2011 Town of Gila Bend Fright Night had lots of participants in the costume contest at Community Center Park. There was also a scream contest and a pumpkin carving contest. There were food and game booths, a hay ride and a haunted house.
2011 Gila Bend High School All-Class Reunion was held on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Elks Lodge. About 200 attended and got a chance to catch up with other graduates. Go Monsters!
The Arizona Centennial Union Pacific Steam Locomotive made a stop in Gila Bend on Tuesday afternoon before heading to Wellton and Yuma. The steam locomotive #844 was the last steam locomotive built for Union Pacific Railroad and was delivered in 1944.
Anza Day at the Painted Rocks Park was presentd by the Anza Trail Foundation, Bureau of Land Management, Friends of the Sonoran Desert National Monument and National Park Service. Activities included talks on the petroglyphs, the Anza Expedition of 1775, and weaving.
Elisabeth Turner and Robert Melton, Jr. were married on Saturday, November 26.
Monster basketball season has begun. Next home games are Dec. 8 and 9.

The Town's "Santa in the Park" event included a snow slide for kids of all ages. Santa gave out presents and took Christmas Eve requests.
The High School Student Council, and the Monster Mascot, with Principal Eddy on guitar performed at the school's Winter Concert on the cafeteria lawn. After the pre-school to high school concert, Santa visited with the kids of all ages.
Construction continues on the new Butterfield Trail overpass over the railroad tracks at the east end overpass. The road construction will continue throughout 2012.

Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar visited the Abengoa Solana Solar Plant west of Gila Bend on Wednesday morning. He visited with the workers and spoke to the television and press media. The 280 megawatt plant began construction in 2010 and will be in operation in 2013.
Queen Adriana Ledesdma and King Kaeger Ruff were crowned at the Gila Bend High School Winter Formal.
San Lucy District held a Walk to bring awareness to Domestic Violence and the support groups available.
Surprise 60th Birthday party, dinner and dance was held at the Elks Lodge on Saturday night for David Birchfield, pictured with wife Yolanda who organized the party. David's birthday is Valentine's Day.
Gila Bender Freddie Burkhardt entered the bronc riding event at the Butterfield Stage Days Rodeo which also featured calf roping, barrel racing, a wild horse race and other rodeo events. The Butterfield Stage Days Parade was held on Saturday morning. It celebrated the stageline of 1858 and also the town of Gila Bend's incorporation 50 years ago.
